Parts Cleaning

Parts cleaning solvents remove oil, grease, and carbon deposits from engine components, machined parts, and tooling before assembly or inspection. Straight degreasers work fast but need proper ventilation and disposal. Emulsifiable types mix with water for spray washing or tank use, stretching the product further and simplifying waste handling. Match the solvent to your setup—straight for bench work and quick strip-downs, emulsifiable for parts washers or batch cleaning.

Filter & sort

Straight degreasing solvents evaporate quickly and cut through heavy workshop residue without rinsing. Use them in well-ventilated spaces or with fume extraction—flash points vary, so check the label before you pour. Keep a drip tray underneath and dispose of spent solvent through a licensed waste carrier. They're effective on brake components, gearbox casings, and anything coated in old grease or cutting fluid.

Emulsifiable solvents dilute with water—typical ratios run 1:10 to 1:20 depending on how stubborn the contamination is. They work in spray cabinets, ultrasonic tanks, or manual parts washers, and the emulsion holds the oil in suspension so it doesn't redeposit on clean metal. After use, let the mix settle and skim off the separated oil, or run it through a filter if your washer has one. Emulsifiable types produce less solvent vapour and are easier to handle in enclosed workshops.

Drum sizes matter for workflow. A 5-litre container covers hand-cleaning and occasional machine strip-downs; 20-litre and 25-litre drums suit workshops doing regular rebuilds or running a dedicated parts washer. Store drums upright, away from ignition sources, and keep lids sealed between pours to prevent contamination and evaporation.
