Standard floor cabinets suit everyday workshop stores — gloves, rags, half-empty tins, spare PPE. Two or four shelves, lockable doors, galvanized or painted steel. The extra-wide versions give you room for larger cans or bulk packs without stacking. Hanging rails work for hi-vis or coveralls.

Hazardous-substance cabinets are built for paints, thinners, aerosols, anything with a flammable or corrosive symbol. They use thicker steel, ventilation grilles, and earth points to meet workplace storage rules. Check the internal dimensions before you buy — a 350×300mm footprint cabinet fits under a bench but won't take five-litre cans side by side. The 460×460mm models handle bigger stock. Floor stands lift smaller cabinets to working height and stop you bending every time you need a bottle. Match the stand code to the cabinet — FSC04, FSC05, and FSC06 each have their own stand, not interchangeable.

If you're storing more than 50 litres of flammables, or anything with a COSHH sheet, the dedicated cabinets keep you legal and keep fumes out of the workspace. For everything else, a standard lockable cabinet does the job.
