Parallel pin punches are sized in millimetre increments so the face matches the pin diameter. Under-size the punch and you'll mushroom the pin; over-size it and you'll damage the bore. A 6-piece set covers common dowel and roll-pin work. Longer shanks let you reach recessed pins in gearbox cases or suspension arms without the hammer catching the housing.
Centre punches mark drill points and stop the bit wandering on curved surfaces. Automatic spring-loaded versions work one-handed — useful when you're holding the part or steadying a template. Fixed centre punches give you more control over strike depth.
Cold chisels are for cutting sheet, splitting seized nuts, and chopping rivets. Wider profiles spread the load when drifting bearings or bushings from bores. Keep the edge ground to around 60° for general work; a blunter angle lasts longer on hard or abrasive material but needs more force. Sheathed handles protect your hand if you miss the strike.
