Wire Brushes
Wire brushes for drills and rotary tools strip rust, clean welds, deburr edges, and prepare metal for paint or coating. They fit standard drill chucks or rotary-tool collets and come in crimped wire, knotted wire, or nylon filament. Pick the right wire type and shape—cup, wheel, or end brush—based on the surface you're working and how aggressive you need to be.

Crimped wire brushes flex under load, so they're good for light rust removal, cleaning threads, and deburring without gouging softer metals. Knotted wire is stiffer—use it for heavy scale, stubborn corrosion, or weld spatter on thicker steel. For aluminium, plastics, or finished surfaces where you can't afford scratches, nylon filament brushes work without marking.
Cup brushes cover flat areas quickly—brake discs, engine blocks, large panels. Wheel brushes reach into grooves and recesses. End brushes get into tight spots like holes, slots, or the inside of pipes. Match the shaft diameter to your tool: 6mm shafts fit most drill chucks and angle-grinder accessories; smaller shafts suit rotary tools.
Check the maximum RPM stamped on the brush or packaging and don't exceed it—overspeeding crimped wire can fling filaments. For repetitive work, sets give you a range of sizes and types without buying brushes individually. Replace the brush when the wire shortens to half its original length or starts bending outward instead of working the surface.
