The shank determines fit. Kango 637 tooling only fits 637-pattern breakers; Bosch 11304 tooling fits that series. SDS Max is a common standard on larger electric breakers — check your machine's spec before ordering. Length and profile matter more than you'd think. A 380 mm point gives better control in tight spots; 450 mm or 500 mm reach deeper but load the tool harder. Points concentrate force — use them to start a break or work hard, dense concrete. Flat chisels (25–30 mm wide) work for general breaking and lifting slabs. Wide chisels (75 mm) strip render, tile beds or tarmac quickly but need more hammer energy behind them. Clay spades and asphalt cutters are purpose-built — the spade's broad edge cuts trenches in soft ground without bogging; the asphalt cutter's narrower profile handles hot mix and bound surfaces without wandering.

Steel wears. Points blunt on rebar and aggregate; chisels mushroom if you overheat them. Grind the working edge back square when it starts to round over — a dull tool loads the hammer and slows the job. If the shank shows peening or cracks, bin it. Sealey and Worksafe offer reliable aftermarket options for common breaker patterns. Keep a spare point and chisel on the van — you'll go through them faster on hard jobs, and a blunt tool costs more time than a replacement steel.
