Beam Clamps & Trolleys
Beam clamps and trolleys run chain hoists along RSJs and I-beams — standard kit wherever you're lifting overhead without a fixed crane. Plain trolleys push by hand, geared trolleys crank sideways under load, and beam clamps bolt the hoist in place. Sealey's range includes models from half a tonne to three tonnes, covering most workshop and site lifting jobs.

Plain vs Geared Trolleys
Plain trolleys roll on four wheels and rely on you pushing the load along the beam. They're fast for positioning in open spans, but you need clear access and a light enough load to shift safely by hand. Geared trolleys use a hand chain and reduction gears to move the carriage — slower, but you can inch a heavy load sideways with control, even in tight quarters. Most geared units will traverse under full load; check the spec if you're working close to the safe working limit.
Beam clamps lock the hoist to one point on the beam. Use them where the load doesn't travel, or where you want to fix multiple hoists at set intervals. Check the clamp's jaw opening against your beam's flange width — RSJ dimensions vary, and an undersized clamp won't grip. Trolley and clamp capacities are rated for the total lifted load, including the hoist's self-weight. If you're lifting two tonnes, your trolley needs headroom for the hoist's mass on top of that.
Match the beam profile to the trolley or clamp. Most units fit tapered-flange I-beams (BSBs, RSJs), but parallel-flange sections need a compatible wheel tread or clamp face. Measure flange width, web depth, and taper before ordering — a mismatched fit will bind, tilt, or slip under load.
