Throat depth and daylight — the working height between bed and ram — determine what physically fits. Measure the part before you pick the press.

Air-over-hydraulic presses use shop air to drive the ram via a foot pedal. Keeps both hands free to steady the drift or align the bearing race. The hydraulic-only versions rely on a hand pump or separate bottle jack, slower but no airline required. Both types use the same H-frame geometry; check the pin diameter if you're adding tooling or safety guards later.

Safety guards bolt to the frame uprights and catch the work if a drift slips or a bearing shatters under load. Not every press ships with one fitted — the guards listed here match specific Sealey and Premier frame models by throat width and pin spacing. Press pin sets give you a range of diameters for different bore sizes; hardened tool steel lasts longer than mild-steel drifts when you're doing repeated hub work.
