John Guest Speedfit components are designed for compressed air at typical workshop pressures. The 28mm pipe runs along walls or ceiling joists; fittings — elbows, tees, straight connectors — snap on and release with a collet mechanism. Pipe clips space every metre or so to keep the line secure. Brass adaptors connect to threaded outlets on compressor tanks, receivers, or tool drops; the standard thread here is 1" BSPT (parallel female on the fitting, tapered male on the adaptor). Check your compressor outlet thread before ordering.

Build the layout on paper first: measure the run, count direction changes, mark tool positions. A typical single-bay setup might use five metres of pipe, three or four elbows, a tee for each drop point, and a straight adaptor at the compressor. Porting blocks let you manifold several outlets from one supply line — useful if you're feeding multiple bays or want a bank of quick-release couplers at a workstation. Line-end plugs cap unused outlets or temporary ends during installation.

The nylon pipe is rigid but not loadbearing — support it properly, don't hang tools from it. Cut to length with a pipe cutter or fine-tooth saw; chamfer the end lightly so the O-ring seats without damage. If you need to break a joint, push the collet in and pull the pipe — no residue, no thread damage, reconnects cleanly. Spacers are used inside certain fittings to maintain alignment in multi-port assemblies; the porting block kit includes them where needed.
