Most of these couplings follow the European profile (ISO 6150 B), which mates with the majority of air tools sold in Ireland. Check the tool's inlet thread — 1/4" BSPT is standard on pneumatic grinders, impact wrenches, and blowguns, but some spray guns and larger rattle guns use 3/8". Swivel adaptors let the hose rotate at the coupling rather than twisting along its length, useful when the tool changes angle during use.

Flow capacity drops when both legs run simultaneously — if you're powering two high-demand tools at once, check the compressor's FAD rating matches the combined consumption. Bodies and adaptors sold in packs suit workshops fitting out multiple drops or replacing worn seals across several stations. The spring-loaded ball in the coupling body wears over time — when it no longer holds the adaptor firmly or leaks under pressure, replace the body rather than shimming or over-tightening.
