Couplings European
European-style air couplings and adaptors for compressed-air lines. This range covers PCL fittings in 1/4" and 3/8" BSPT threads, plus tailpieces for 5/16", 3/8", and 1/2" bore hose. If you run European quick-release valves on tools or hose reels, these mate with that system — they won't interchange with ARO, Orion, or industrial interchange without an adaptor.

Pick thread size and gender to match your compressor outlet, manifold, or tool inlet. BSPT is parallel on the first few threads, then tapered — wrap with PTFE tape and tighten until snug, not until the brass deforms. Male adaptors screw into female ports; female adaptors take male fittings. Coupling bodies house the valve mechanism and connect via the threaded end; the quick-release side stays on the hose or tool.
Tailpieces push inside the hose bore and clamp with a jubilee clip or crimp ferrule. Match the tailpiece diameter to your hose ID: 5/16" for 8 mm, 3/8" for 10 mm, 1/2" for 13 mm bore. Serrations grip better than smooth barbs once the hose warms under pressure. If the hose has hardened or the clip has been over-tightened in the past, cut back 20 mm and fit fresh — a split hose will blow off under load.
European couplings use a sleeve-lock design. Push the hose fitting into the coupling body until it clicks; pull the outer sleeve back to release. The valve inside seals when disconnected, so you lose minimal air each time you swap tools. Check the valve poppet every few months if you work in dusty or wet conditions — grit on the seal will leak.
