Log Splitters
Log splitters let you process firewood without an axe or a wedge and hammer. The range includes horizontal foot-operated models for fast, repetitive splitting at bench height, and vertical hydraulic units that handle bigger rounds without having to lift them. Tonnage and throat capacity matter — pick a machine that matches the diameter and density of the wood you're working with.

Horizontal splitters sit at a comfortable working height and suit logs up to around 550 mm, depending on the model. Four-tonne units cope with seasoned softwood and lighter hardwood; five- and six-tonne machines push through denser rounds without stalling. Foot operation keeps both hands free to position and clear the split wood. Some horizontal models work with an optional stand that brings the work off the ground and adds stability on uneven surfaces.
Vertical splitters let you roll heavy rounds straight onto the base plate without lifting. They're slower cycle-to-cycle than horizontal machines, but they're the practical choice when you're dealing with oak, ash, or anything over 500 mm diameter. Check throat capacity and ram stroke — a longer stroke means fewer repositions on knotty or twisted grain.
Sealey's range covers both layouts. Match the splitting force to the wood species and the season it was cut. Green hardwood needs more tonnage than kiln-dried softwood. If you're processing mixed loads, size up rather than down — an underpowered machine will stall mid-stroke and cost you time resetting.
