BS 8599-1 kits are spec'd for workplaces — Small suits up to 25 people in low-risk environments, Medium covers 50+ or moderate hazards, Large for high-risk sites or 100+ employees. BS 8599-2 is the vehicle standard — different contents, designed for roadside incidents rather than fixed premises. Check which standard applies before buying; a workplace kit won't meet vehicle compliance and vice versa.

Burn relief gel cools tissue and forms a barrier — useful for welding flash, grinding sparks, or exhaust contact. The 100 × 100 mm dressings are non-adherent; apply over gel for scalds or larger burns. Eye wash is 0.9% saline or sterile water — the 500 ml bottle is manual, the station holds pods for quick rinses when someone catches grinding dust or chemical splash. Wall-mount the station near grinders, parts washers, or anywhere eyes are at risk.

First aid kit contents have use-by dates. Mark the review date on the outside, check it every six months, and replace expired stock. Sterile dressings, wound wash, and burn gel all degrade; plasters and bandages stay good longer but check the seals. Refill missing items after use — a half-empty kit is worse than none when someone needs it.
