Panel Tools

Panel tools cover the kit needed for reshaping, pulling, and preparing bodywork—slide hammers for dent removal, jogglers for folding flanges, suction pullers, and beaters for metal finishing. Most are hand tools built for repetitive, controlled work on steel and aluminium panels. Pick tools based on panel thickness, access, and whether you're pulling, shaping, or joining.

Slide hammers come in different weights—1.25kg suits light pulls on thin steel, 2kg handles most general work, and 4.4kg tackles stubborn dents or structural repair. Check the thread type on attachments; kits often mix hook, screw, and clamp ends for different pull points. Heavier hammers need a solid grip on the panel or you'll tear the mounting point before shifting the dent.

Jogglers fold a flange along a panel edge, typically for lap joints or door skin replacements. The stepped jaw sets the offset—common sizes are 6mm or 9mm. Joggler/punch combinations add a piercing function for plug welds. Door skin tools fold the hem without splitting the edge; aluminium needs a wider radius than steel or the fold cracks.

Suction pullers work on shallow, accessible dents where the paint is intact. They won't shift creases or dents with broken paint. Paintless dent repair kits use leverage bars and glue tabs—effective on hail damage or car-park dings, less so on stretched metal. Panel beating sets include dollies, hammers, and spoons for on-dolly and off-dolly work; match the dolly radius to the panel curve or you'll stretch instead of shrink.
