Spray Guns

Spray guns for paint, primer, lacquer, and solvent finishes. Gravity-feed models suit smaller jobs and awkward angles; suction-feed handles bulk work where you need litres in the pot. Pressure pots push heavier material through the line without drop-off. Nozzle size matters—1.4–1.8 mm for base coats and primers, 2.0 mm and above for high-build or textured finishes. Check the set-up spec against your compressor CFM before you start.

Gravity-feed guns mount the cup on top, so they drain fully and work at any angle without starving the pick-up. They suit panel work, small assemblies, anything where you're changing colour often or working overhead. Suction-feed pulls from a canister underneath—slower pickup, but you can run a litre pot all day without refilling. Use suction when you're coating large surfaces in one colour and the gun stays level.

Pressure pots are a separate tank that feeds the gun through a hose. They keep heavy coatings moving when gravity or suction won't pull them, and they let you walk the hose around a large piece without dragging the pot. The 2-litre pressure pot listed here fits both the SSG1P and HVLP-79/P1 guns—check the coupling before you order if you're mixing brands.

Nozzle and needle sets are wear parts. The needle seals against the nozzle tip; any burr or ding leaks air and spatters the finish. If the pattern goes oval or you're getting dry edges with wet centre, pull the tip and check for damage. Paraffin spray guns have a large inlet to handle the thicker fluid without clogging—don't use a standard paint nozzle for degreaser or thinned paraffin, the orifice is too small.

Match your air supply to the gun spec. Most gravity-feed setups want 4–6 CFM at the trigger; pressure pots add another 2–3 CFM to push the material. If your compressor cycles every few seconds, you're under-spec'd and the finish will orange-peel.
