Caulking Guns
Caulking guns dispense sealant, adhesive, and filler from cartridges in controlled beads. Manual frames suit occasional use and light-bodied products; pneumatic guns handle high-viscosity materials and repetitive application without hand fatigue. Frame length must match the cartridge — a 280 mm gun takes a standard 310 ml tube, shorter frames are for compact cartridges or tight access.

Skeleton frames are lighter and let you see the cartridge label mid-job; enclosed cradles support soft-walled cartridges better under pressure. Ratchet mechanisms vary — fine-tooth racks give smoother control for narrow beads, coarse racks reload faster between cartridges. Check the thrust ratio if you're pushing thick mastic or construction adhesive; a 10:1 or 12:1 lever makes the difference between steady flow and a stalled bead halfway down a joint.
Pneumatic guns eliminate grip strain on long runs — seam sealing, panel bonding, anything over a dozen cartridges in a shift. Most run at 90 psi; confirm your line pressure and fit a regulator if you're feeding from a high-output compressor. Trigger response is quicker than manual, so practice the release to avoid overrun at the end of a bead.
Nozzle diameter controls bead width; cut the tip at an angle for corners and flat for wide gaps. Stoppers prevent dried sealant from blocking the nozzle between uses. One-handed frames lock the plunger and trigger in one grip — useful on ladders or when the other hand is holding a panel in place. Match the gun type to the job volume and the cartridge spec to the frame length before you load the first tube.
