Specialised Bits & Sockets

Specialised bits and sockets for fasteners you don't turn every day — security Torx, Ribe, spline, and socket-mounted hex keys. Premier and Siegen Tools. If a standard bit won't fit the head or you need the reach of a socket drive, you're in the right place.

Security Torx (TRX-TS) bits have the centre pin hole; standard TRX-Star (Torx) bits do not. Make sure you're ordering the right one — they're not interchangeable. Most sets here use 1/4", 3/8", or 1/2" square drive, so you can swing them on a ratchet or breaker bar when access is tight or torque matters.

Ribe and spline fasteners show up on older European machinery and some hydraulic fittings. The profiles look similar but they're not — a twelve-point socket will round off a spline head, and a spline bit won't seat properly in a Ribe. If you're not sure which you're looking at, compare the socket against the fastener before you load it. Hex socket bits let you turn an internal hex with a ratchet instead of a key, useful when you need more grunt or the key won't clear an obstruction. Stubby lengths reduce flex; long-reach bits get past recessed housings. Pick the length that fits the job, not the drawer.
