Polishers
Air polishers for finishing metal, composite, and painted surfaces. Available in 75mm and 180mm pad sizes — the smaller units fit tight curves and trim work, the larger ones cover flat panels faster. Premier and Sealey models run on standard workshop compressor lines.

Pick pad diameter first. A 75mm polisher reaches into door shuts, around badges, and along body lines without catching edges. The composite-body Premier mini runs lighter in the hand over long sessions. For bonnets, roofs, and van sides, a 180mm model removes compounding marks in fewer passes. Check the free speed — 2500rpm suits most cut-and-polish work; faster heads risk burning through clearcoat on sharp curves.
Air polishers need clean, dry air. Water in the line shows up as spatter in the finish. Fit an inline filter close to the tool if the compressor's own dryer sits far from the bench. Oil the air motor through the inlet before each shift — most bog-downs trace to dry vanes, not worn pads. Match pad backing type to the job: hook-and-loop for quick changes between grades, stick-on foam for wet sanding. Spent pads glaze and load up; they generate heat without cutting, so swap them out when compound stops breaking down.
