LED Inspection Lamps

LED inspection lamps for mechanics, fitters, and workshop use. Rechargeable cordless models with COB or SMD LED arrays, swivel heads, magnetic mounts, and fold-out hooks. Output ranges from 1W spot LEDs up to 8W floodlight panels. Sealey units dominate the range — pick by runtime, lumens, and how you need to position the light.

COB (chip-on-board) LEDs give a broad, diffuse wash — useful for lighting an entire engine bay or undercarriage. SMD (surface-mount diode) LEDs deliver a tighter beam for picking out fasteners or inspection marks. Many models combine both: COB for area lighting, SMD for a spot. Check the lumen output, not just the wattage — a 5W COB can outperform an 8W SMD array depending on the chip.

Runtime matters more than battery capacity if you're working through a shift. Lithium-ion cells hold charge longer in storage than NiMH, but they cost more upfront. Replaceable cells extend the lamp's working life; sealed units are lighter but disposable once the battery fades.

Mounting and grip: 360-degree swivel heads let you aim the beam without repositioning the base. Magnetic backs stick to panels and chassis rails; fold-out hooks hang from bonnets or racking. Slim folding models fit in a pocket or toolbox lid. If you're working alone and need both hands free, a lamp with multiple mounting options beats a handheld torch.

Sealey's LED Twist range uses a rotating head to switch between flood and spot modes without a second switch. The docking station kits charge multiple lamps overnight and keep spares topped up if you're running several in a workshop. Match the form factor to the job — a right-angle fold for tight spaces, a straight bar for undercar work on a creeper.
