Cable Reels

Cable reels let you run power to tools and lights across a site without dragging loose flex or hunting for outlets. The models here carry 230V through lengths from 10m to 50m, all fitted with thermal trip protection to cut power if the wound cable overheats. Four-socket outlets give you room for multiple tools or floodlights off one reel.

Thermal trip switches are standard across these reels. When cable stays wound under load, resistance builds and the conductor heats — the trip cuts power before insulation fails. Always unwind the full length if you're pulling more than about 1kW continuously; a coiled reel under heavy draw will trip even if the total load sits within the rated capacity.

Cable length affects both reach and drum size. A 50m reel covers large yards or multi-storey scaffolds but adds weight and bulk; 10m and 15m cassette types suit workshop benches or vehicle bays where you're working within a few metres of a wall socket. Check the cable gauge: 1.5mm² cores handle typical power tools and site lighting; lighter-duty extension leads with thinner conductors aren't built for the same current and won't include a trip.

The four-socket layout puts outlets on the drum face, not trailing off the end. That keeps plugs accessible and reduces the chance of dragging a socket through mud or snagging it on steelwork. One model here includes an RCD plug — useful if you're feeding the reel from a supply without residual-current protection already in the board, common in older agricultural sheds or temporary site hookups.
