Rotating Amber Beacons

Rotating amber beacons mark slow-moving or stationary vehicles in traffic — recovery trucks, plant machinery, agricultural equipment. These LED units run on 12V or 24V and fit via magnet, spigot, or bolt. Pick the mount that suits how often you move the light between vehicles and whether you need a permanent fix.

Most units here use SMD LED arrays — 20W or 36W — that draw less current than filament bulbs and survive vibration better. The 20W models are enough for daytime highway use; 36W outputs are brighter if you work in fog or need long-range visibility. Check that the supply voltage matches your vehicle: both 12V and 24V versions are listed, and polarity matters on some mounts.

Magnetic bases let you swap the beacon between vehicles quickly, but they need a flat ferrous surface and won't stay put on aluminium or fibreglass. Bolt-fix versions use M12 or 6.5mm studs — more secure, harder to remove. Flexible spigot mounts let you angle the beam and are harder to knock off than magnets, but they still lift away faster than a bolted unit. If the beacon sits on a tipper or dump body that tilts, bolt it down; if it moves between a van and a trailer, a magnet or spigot makes sense.

Standard colour is amber for UK road use. The red and green units listed here are for yard work, traffic management, or off-road plant where colour-coding matters. Check local regulations before fitting a non-amber beacon to a vehicle used on public roads.
