Mobile Power Systems

Mobile power systems are self-contained battery packs for jump-starting vehicles without another car or mains supply. All units here are Sealey RoadStart models, rated by peak amps (for 12V systems) or dual-voltage output (12/24V for trucks and plant). Pick capacity to match the engine — petrol or diesel, cylinder count, displacement — and check the pack holds charge long enough between jobs if you're using it commercially.

Peak amp ratings tell you starting power, not how many times you can use the pack before recharging. A 3200-amp unit will turn over a larger engine than a 1600-amp one, but stored charge depends on the internal cell — usually lead-acid in these RoadStart models. If you're jump-starting multiple vehicles on a site or roadside, factor in how often you can get back to mains to top up the pack.

Dual-voltage models (12/24V) switch output to match the vehicle system. Commercial operators running mixed fleets — vans, HGVs, agricultural kit — need this flexibility. Single-voltage 12V packs work for cars, light commercials, and smaller plant. The stated cylinder or displacement figure (e.g. "6-cylinder, 3.5L") is a rough guide; cold weather, old batteries, and diesel compression all increase the load, so leave headroom if you're working outdoors in winter or with tired starter batteries.

Check clamp jaw opening and cable length before buying. Short leads mean you're leaning over the engine bay; narrow jaws won't fit corroded or oversized terminals. Most packs include a work light and USB charging, useful for diagnostics or keeping a phone alive on breakdown calls, but the jump function is the core — everything else is secondary.
