Interpump changed the game when they introduced ceramic plungers back in ’77. Based in Sant’Ilario d’Enza, they’re now the biggest pump manufacturer in the world. The 47 and 66 series are industry standards.

The Ceramic Revolution

Before Interpump, high-pressure pumps used stainless steel plungers. Fulvio Montipò figured out that ceramic was harder, smoother, and lasted longer. Simple idea, massive impact. Within a few years everyone was copying them.

They floated on the Milan stock exchange in '96 and have been buying up competitors ever since - General Pump, Pratissoli, Hammelmann. If you're using a quality pump, there's a decent chance Interpump owns the company that made it.

What We Use

The W series (W112, W130, W151) covers most of our builds. Solid brass heads, easy to service, parts available everywhere. For higher pressures we use the 66 series - same quality, beefier construction.

One tip: don't run Interpump pumps dry. The ceramic plungers need water for lubrication. Even a few seconds without water can score the seals.
