Maintenance & Safety

Site maintenance, safety gear, and material handling kit for keeping people safe and premises running. Workwear that meets protection standards, lifting equipment rated for load, cleaning supplies for workshop and yard. This section covers the non-tooling side of industrial operations — gloves to hi-vis, spill kits to trolleys, janitorial chemicals to PPE.

Safety products overlap with clothing in areas like gloves and footwear, but the distinction matters when you're looking for rated protection versus general durability. Impact gloves rated to EN 388 are not the same as unrated mechanics' gloves. Same for boots — S3 safety ratings mean steel toecap and midsole penetration resistance; leather work boots without certification do not meet site requirements even if they last years.

Material handling includes hand trucks, platform trolleys, and pallet jacks. Weight capacity is the first spec to check — a 150 kg trolley will fold if you load it with a 250 kg pump. Wheel type affects maneuverability: pneumatic wheels handle rough ground and kerbs, polyurethane or nylon wheels run quieter on smooth floors but catch on gravel. For pallet jacks, fork length and width determine which pallets fit; measure your standard loads before buying.

Janitorial supplies range from degreaser and floor cleaner to absorbent granules for spills. Oil-based spills need a different absorbent than water-based ones — clay granules work for most petroleum products, but you'll want a specific spill kit if you're handling chemicals with flash points or corrosive properties. Check the product data sheet for compatibility, not just the label.

Workwear durability depends on fabric weight and stitching, not brand reputation. A 300 GSM cotton drill overall lasts longer in abrasive environments than a 200 GSM polyester blend, but the lighter fabric breathes better in summer. Hi-vis needs to meet EN ISO 20471 if it's required on site; decorative yellow jackets without reflective tape do not count. Tape degrades under UV and washing — inspect it regularly and replace when the retroreflectivity drops.
